THE CATS

Rescue cats who share the decks, the cabin, and the gardens

The real bosses

The animals are not decoration. They are the bosses, the beneficiaries, and the reason this whole place has to work. No cages — decks, shelters, gardens, and open space built around them.

About twenty-five rescue cats live here right now. Many arrived as kittens through Hawaiʻi Island’s overpopulation crisis. They have places to disappear when they want privacy.

Why a cat sanctuary named after a dog.

Flash loved kittens. The sanctuary exists so that love could keep doing something after he was gone. Cats on the pond wall, cats on the deck, cats interrupting dinner — that is the daily proof.

People ask

How many cats live at FlashTown?

About twenty-five right now. The number moves as rescues come and go.

Can I visit the cats?

This is a private sanctuary. Some animals don’t like strangers. Write first about private tours — do not show up unannounced.
